WHAT I CAN’t do

What I can’t do is post a new picture every day. I am not that sort of artist. I work every day. Some days I have something to show for it. Some days I don’t. Right now I am working on several projects at once.

Today’s picture is a still life I took in the early fall. Just when we start to think about the coming hibernation of winter, I start dreaming up my winter projects to keep me busy in the short dark days ahead.

We are on the other side of that now. On the Cape we are always behind when it comes to spring. Snowdrops are up, but today’s temperature with the windchill — and there is a lot of wind — is 19°F.

I am still nestled in and germinating my plans for spring. I have two photographic series in the works and am very curious about how they will turn out.

And I am drawing a lot. Quick sketches, but mostly long form detailed landscapes and portraits and I love being able to take my time.
